What is a gate review?

In project management, gate reviews (also known as stage reviews or stage gates) are formal control points that act as decision gates throughout a project’s lifecycle. These are also known as project gates and act as a formal governance step to ensure that all required processes are completed and approved before moving to the next project phase.
